Radical Hospitality Statement

We the people of Spirit Of Life have made the commitment to affirm that WE CARE because God first loved us. With the help of the Holy Spirit, we are seeking to transform our community in Christ into a safer, more caring community where we are free to be the people God intends us to be.

We want to be a community which embraces differences and welcomes strangers with love, compassion and hospitality. We want to be a community which includes all people. We desire to be a community where we can disagree, without causing divisions, and when divisions do occur, we can seek forgiveness and reconciliation in love.

Therefore, trusting in Christ, we the people of Spirit Of Life resolve to:

• Honor others above ourselves

• Practice hospitality in new or better ways

• Welcome strangers and others who are different from us with love and compassion

• Share our stories of faith

• Agree to disagree without causing divisions

• Play nice and play fair

• Forgive others as God has forgiven us

• Declare our support for and welcome people who experience discrimination based on race, religion, poverty, physical features, physical or mental infirmities, mental illness, age, gender, sexual orientation

• Be peacemakers

• Develop better relationships with our neighbors

• Extend our hospitality to visitors beyond Sunday morning

• Provide assistance in transportation to church and open our eyes to a host of other needs
